Efficiency Improvement Project for Olefins Production at SIBUR-Kstovo, LLC
SIBUR has registered a climate project implemented at SIBUR-Kstovo in the Russian carbon register. Implemented in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region.
The climate project received a positive conclusion from the greenhouse gas validation and verification body of the NP CIC CIS Association, which confirmed the compliance of the project with the requirements of GOST R ISO 14064-2-2021 and Order of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation of 11.05.2022 No. 248.
Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at SIBUR-Kstovo was achieved by improving the energy efficiency of the production of pyrolysis of hydrocarbon raw materials. Within the framework of the project, software was introduced and new gas analyzers were installed, which made it possible to optimize the technological process, reduce the use of steam and fuel gas necessary for its generation.
Ethylene, propylene and benzene produced by SIBUR-Kstovo are used for the production of ethylene oxide, glycols, polyvinyl chloride, acrylic acid, esters and other products that are further used in the production of antifreeze and other technical liquids, autocosmettics, surfactants, construction and packaging materials, consumer goods, parts for cars, medical equipment, industrial pipes and containers, heat-resistant fibers and elements of electrical appliances. All these products make people's lives comfortable and safe.
